GSM Technology evolution

While it has many operators that disburse investment funds using technology GSM / GPRS network. So, to go into the 3G era must be at Swatch evolution of the optimal solution for the transition from 2G/2.5G technology to 3G. Manufacturer of the device manufacturer and provider of 3G/UMTS technology called GSM or UMTS abbreviated as just the answer. Actually, before completing the UMTS technology, mobile device manufacturers have a technology called EDGE. Basically the EDGE is GSM too, but with different modulation methodology can enable it to reach speeds of bit rate up to 474 kbps. However, the GSM operator’s existing wait for UMTS network readiness than to spend the budget to held EDGE service.

Actually if called evolution from GSM to UMTS is not entirely correct. GSM / GPRS and UMTS are two technologies with different platforms. GSM uses TDMA while UMTS uses W-CDMA. Both will always be there for several years, until at a time where all the users GSM / GPRS switch to using UMTS.

Slowly cell coverage (coverage) UMTS will be made at least equal to GSM. Then later in time when everyone had 3G handset, then the era of natural legally GSM / GPRS will end. But it all depends on the service provider, the extent of their investments in GSM / GPRS already invested and the extent to which customers switch entirely to 3G. They should consider the ROI (return on investment) is appropriate. This can be long so that both the GSM / GPRS and UMTS will always be there in a long time. Not too many people who still use mobile handset models of yore, which could be important to call and send SMS.

As if the endless competition, the next evolution of UMTS is designed to provide speed data services are higher than the CDMA EVDV. Some providers say the device evolution is only a software upgrade can support HSDPA. Speed may still not be imagined today how that 14.4 Mbps. Later for 3G services, mobile service providers will offer interactive applications such as video call, video on demand, digital radio channels and others. Another favorite addition to browsing, chat, nge-game on line, downloading via the small box in the grip called mobile.

But it all depends on the market and the user community. Mobile phone customers basically do not really care whether the cellular network is used CDMA or UMTS. Origin 3G service tariff could compete and, importantly still affordable by young people, professionals and other communities, perhaps all that will soon materialize. If not, maybe the story would be similar to the GPRS service is somewhat less interested. Phone rates are still expensive now.
